Visit the private garden of an Illinois alum in NE Portland

The club has organized a very special opportunity for a private tour of Mary DeNoyer's garden in Northeast Portland on the Fremont Ridge. The garden has been featured on several horticultural tours of the Portland area. Mary (UIC, 1976) is a Master Gardener who describes the garden best herself:

My garden is a 26 year experience of learning and passion. In this 75 x 100 ft. organic city garden, I collect many shade plants for the more private back area beds including arisaemas, saxifragas, podophyllums and epimediums. I love playing with textures, forms and shades of green foliage. The sunnier south-facing front garden is more drought tolerant. A wide variety of blooming plants keep it fun and interesting all summer long along with it's evergreen bones and interesting trees. A rock garden lines the driveway.

The garden paths are not paved, but are level for easy walking. Please RSVP to president@portlandillini.org with the number of attendees and the address will be emailed to you. Plenty of street parking is available.
